Public Space Management

Management of the town comprises initiatives that challenge the day-to-day running of the town centre and the impact that this has on businesses and everyone who uses High Wycombe.

HWBIDCo is working closely with the District and County Councils and Thames Valley Police to create a better system of regulation to govern the following activities (although this is not an exhaustive list):

  • Event;
  • Charity Fundraisers;
  • Commercial and charity activities in public space;
  • Leafleting;
  • Work with the Charter Market.

As part of this work, we have negotiated some delegated authority (and devolved budget) from Wycombe District Council to manage the following:

  • Lamp column banners
  • Hanging Baskets
  • Public spaces (under local jurisdiction)

We will seek to create a similar agreement with the County Council regarding management issues such as A Board policy and café chairs and tables licensing so that this can be managed more locally and maybe more in partnership with local businesses.
