HWBIDCo sponsors Film Launch

More than 70 guests turned out at Cineworld Eden on Thursday 27th February for the official launch of Fisheye Film Festival – High Wycombe’s biggest independent film gala.

The festival, which is now in its fifth year, runs at various venues across the town until the 8th of March and includes screenings of well-known film titles, foreign and independent movies, and an international short film competition.

Thursday’s launch event, which showcased a screening of biographic thriller Mr Jones, was sponsored by High Wycombe Business Improvement District (HWBIDCo) – an organisation which represents businesses across the town centre. Alongside event organisers Mariko Francombe and Jerry Joseph, the event also included representatives from the HWBIDCo team and board of directors, local filmmakers and guests from a number of town centre businesses.

Discussing the success of the launch, HWBIDCo Projects and Events Manager Chloe Lockwood said, “We’re thrilled to once again be working in partnership with Fisheye Film Festival. We’ve watched the festival go from strength-to-strength over the last five years and it was a pleasure to be asked to sponsor tonight’s screening. By building these relationships with Fisheye Film and other event organisers, we can encourage them to support our local businesses and ensure a coordinated range of activities and events happening throughout the town centre.”

Event organiser Mariko Francombe said, “We are delighted to be linking up with HWBIDCO this year and we look forward to working together on some exciting future projects and film-related events for people to enjoy in High Wycombe”.
